This image looks due south at the Kintai bridge at Iwakuni in Yamaguchi prefecture. This is a less common viewpoint as most photos are taken looking north from the parking lot that is the south of the bridge on the east bank of the Nishiki river. The Kintai bridge dates from 1673, but the most recent restoration occurred in 2004. The bridge allows pedestrian traffic (after paying a fee) to cross the Nishiki river and leads to Iwakuni Castle, which is situated on the bluff to the northwest, which would be off screen to the right-and-behind in this picture.
